You spin my round....

I have so many new tricks I can do in the last few days. First I learned to kick my ball. Daddy rolls it to me and I try and kick it. If I miss, I pick it up, put it on my feet and wiggle them until it rolls away. While we were playing this the dog went after my ball. Daddy and Mommy thought this was strange since they had tried for years to get the dog to play fetch. Well now he plays it while I'm playing with my ball. Apparently he knew all along how to run and bring a ball back; sneaky dog.
I've also learned how to turn around on my tummy, and can even pull myself around with my arms. Between that and the rolling, there is nowhere i can't get to. My parents better baby-proof soon.
Finally, just a few hours ago I realized the toy in my hand makes a loud noise when I swing it down into the table. I started doing that over and over. I get scared by the noise, so I close my eyes before it hits. It's so neat that I can cause such a racket.
Okay, I'm supposed to be going to bed now; not that I will.

All I want for Christmas.....

I am sorry it has been so long since I have written, I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping. It turns out that I seem to have some trouble with milk, so taking that out of my diet should help a lot.
On a more happy note, yesterday I got my first tooth; two in fact. They are sharp, and it's fun to gnaw on Mommy and Daddy's fingers. It's amazing how quick they want from 'awww, how cute' to 'god damn that hurts!'.
Most of my life, when I'm not sleeping (which is most of the time) is all about learning new things. I'm starting to play with my toys. In particular, I love this new game where I drop my toys on the ground and laugh as Mommy and Daddy pick it up. I can do that over and over. Well, I am getting very hungry now, where is MOMMY!!!

This evening I just turned over from my back to my front for the first time. Looks like the days of being swaddled at night are over :)
I've also decided that eating by itself is just not that fun anymore. I need a toy to play with while nursing.

Mr. Sandman is on vacation

There is so much new to tell everyone about. I'm now sitting up and grabbing and playing with everything. My best friend is the dog, who even lets me pull and chew on his ears. When he walks away I get very upset. I don't understand why he leaves me so quickly, all I'm doing is squealing and pulling his ears and grabbing his eyes.

I've also started going to reading time at the library. I love going there and reading with the other kids and singing songs (even though I can't sing). I always follow this up with a nice nap.

Speaking of napping, I'm starting to take regular long naps during the day. Unfortunately for my parents, I'm also not sleeping at night. I go to sleep, but I hate being asleep more than a couple hours. I'd much rather get up and cry for mommy to come play with me. She won't play, so when she puts me back to sleep I get up again in an hour and cry more.

It's time for me to go chase the dog some more.

Not a One Trick Pony

It's a good thing Mommy got a movie of me rolling over, because I have not done it since (http://picasaweb.google.com/jdrasin/Samuel/photo#5108733766933386002). This is because I have so many new tricks I'm doing. When Daddy reads to me and is not turning the page fast enough, I now reach out and turn the pages for him (he's already starting to become useless). I also started playing in an excersaucer today. It's like a whole world of toys, as far as the eyes can see. No matter how much I turn, I see more and more toys.

Now if I would just sleep more than two hours at a time....

To everything, turn turn turn

Today was a very exciting day; I TURNED OVER. I was playing on my matt and suddenly the whole world turned upside-down. Everyone is very excited, though I'm not sure why.
Lately there has been so many new things I've learned. I have so many toys I now like playing with and holding. I also found my Daddy's glasses, and love pulling them off. Also yesterday I found these funny looking things below me called feet. They are fun to play with and touch.

Mommy and Daddy are trying to give me a sleeping schedule. I'm not sure what their problem is with getting up at 3AM, I think it's a perfect time to eat.

The other new thing is that I've started going to the library with Mommy for reading/singing time. It's really neat seeing all the other kids playing together and singing.

Well, it's almost my bedtime, I see my parents in silent prayer.

Growing and Going

Sorry it has been so long since I wrote, my life has been very busy. The last time I spoke I was leaving on a trip with Mom and Grandma to Florida to visit Mommy's family. It was a very fun trip, I met my great grandparents, new cousins, and aunts. I got so much attention from all of them being talked to and played with all day. All this fun really wiped me out, and I slept six hours a night. The road trip down and back was fun to, seeing all the scenery go by, though after six or seven hours in my seat, I started to get a little agitated.
When I got home it was back to life as usually. I'm still growing a lot, and at my 11 week checkup I was 14 1/4 pounds and 24 1/4 inches long. All this growing is helping me to sleep longer and longer, though every few days I have to get up all night just to keep Mommy and Daddy in place. Over the last couple weeks I've been learning a lot too. I can now grab things pretty well and hold onto them. My neck is also very strong and Mommy and Daddy can now lift me in the air and let me fly around. I'm just waiting for the perfect time to spit up on them when they do it.
This week was extra fun. We all went to the Beach with Cousin Josh and Grace, Uncle Dan, Aunt Courtney and their friends. It's been so fun at the beach playing with the other children and getting held all day and night. I even went in the pool for the first time and the hot tub which put me right to sleep.
I know I've said this before, but I will get some new pictures up.

Road Trip!

Just today I got some very exciting news. Tomorrow morning Mommy and Grandma are taking me on a road trip down to Florida. I am going to be seeing my Great Grandparents and there is a rumor we are going to be taking my cousin to Disney World. I am very excited about all this time with so many people's attention. I am going to miss my Daddy, but he seemed surprisingly amicable to Mommy taking me away for a week.
I'm sure I will have lots of adventures to talk about from there and pictures to go with them. Speaking of which, I think Daddy has finally figured out how to upload pictures and is going to show me how.

breakthrough

This weekend was a very important one. Friday night we spent time vising with Mommy and Daddy's friends, which means I get held and cooed over all night (big fan of that). Saturday we spent time with Uncle Dan and Aunt Courtney and my Cousins Josh and Grace at her birthday party. Once again, I was the center of attention and got to eat and be held all day. Because of all this excitement, I slept through the night both nights. This was a bit of an upsetting fact for Mommy since Daddy was in charge of watching me at night, and he got away scott free. But I made it up to Mommy; Sunday night I slept through the night again.

They are very excited by me sleeping through the night. It's amazing how they now consider 5 or 6 hours of sleep a blessing; talk about lowering the bar.

My favorite time of day is the morning. Right after I wake up from my long slumber, I like to play with my parents. I lay back and laugh at the silly faces and noises they make. All I need to do is giggle, and they act like children. I have some toys I'm starting to get interested in, swing and trying to grab them, or watching them move around. I laugh a lot when things move around in circles.

All this talk about sleep is making me hungry, so I will sign off for now and write more later.

Goodmorning sunshine

Mornings are my favorite time of day. I wake up all rested and happy and Mommy and Daddy are both there. We talk and play for awhile until Daddy has to go off to work. I'm starting to talk more and more and we have some very insightful conversations. Next week I get another checkup with my Doctor, and we get to find out how much I have grown.

There has been some feedback asking for more pictures, and I promise I will try and post some. I'm just having a little trouble.

I also have a new email address samueldrasin@gmail.com (yahoo.com doesn't allow less then 2 year olds to have addresses and requires a credit card to prove age). Guess I need to ask Mommy and Daddy for one of those credit card things.

Also, for those wishing I would post more; there is a direct correlation between the amount that I sleep and the number of posts.

It was a dark and quiet night

We spent Saturday night with my uncle Dan and Aunt Courtney and my cousins Josh and Grace. I had a lot of fun playing with them and being passed around by the neighbors; I love being the center of attention. I was so tired by the end of the night I slept for almost 6 hours at home. Then when I woke up Daddy took me on a long drive for a few hours while Mommy slept.

I laugh a lot now, when people make funny faces, or open their mouths wide. They make all these silly noises, I can't understand anything that are saying. I'm starting to talk more to them, but they still only understand a couple phrases I use, like 'I am dirty' and 'I am hungry'. I am also starting to play with more of my toys, grabbing them, watching them, laughing when they make noise.

I hear Mommy coming to my bed, she thinks I've been sleeping. Time to hide the laptop.

Something new

Last night I grabbed something for the first time! It was a portable mobile that some friends of my grandfather gave me. Over the last few days I have been starting to swing at things when they move in front of me, and each day my aim was getting better. Today I actually hit it, grabbed it, and of course, pulled it. For some reason my parents find this to be the most fascinating thing in the world :)

I am still growing very fast, unofficially 13lbs now. Mommy and Daddy think I might be ready for another growth spurt since I've been eating like crazy the last few days and hardly sleeping. I don't know if they really think I'm going to have a spurt, or they are just praying. They seem very tired. I really don't understand why, I mean, I only need 45 minutes of sleep and I'm ready to go again.

I need to go now. It's a weekend, and that means going out on the town and them trying to be 'normal'.

What are these things attached to me

Just recently I have noticed these strange things next to me, and not only that, I seem to be able to move them. I can punch Mommy and Daddy by 'accident' and even grab things. Seeing things move grabs my attention, and I make these big smiles. It's funny to see how a little grin makes them act like complete fools for the next 5 minutes.
I'm starting to sleep a bit better, not letting myself get so overtired. How ironic, the more tired I am, the harder it is for me to sleep.
Every day Mommy and Daddy learn a new technique to keep me calm, and every next day they become obsolete and a new set of tricks are needed.
I am starting to get a lot of gifts in the mail with new clothes and toys. I'm starting to even play with some a bit.
On Saturday uncle Dan came over to watch me and give my parents a needed break. They were able to take a nap and go out to dinner without me; they said it felt very very strange.
Well, I need to stop writing. I've been very tough on Mommy today and I better shape up before Daddy gets home and I get a stern talking to.

I keep growing and growing and growing

Yesterday I went to see my doctor again. I am now 10lbs and 13 ounces, and 22 5/8 inches. I'm growing at the rate of a pound and quarter inch every week. I also got a shot, which made me cry :(
I have also stopped sleeping at night. I get bad pains in my tummy, and cry a lot. Mommy and Daddy are starting to look very very tired.
I have been introduced to two new things. First, a Baby Bjorn carrier, which hugs me snugly and makes me drift off. The second is a vacuum cleaner, which for some strange reason makes me feel very good and quiets me down.
The weekend is coming up, and that always means long walks with Daddy (and for some reason Mommy is left alone).

I'm such a trickster

Friday night I came up with a great anniversary present for Mommy and Daddy. I slept 5 straight hours! I then got up, napped again, and then Daddy took me out for our Saturday walk. Mommy got so much sleep, I think she was starting to get cocky. So last night I made them remember who was in charge. I got up every other hour to eat; that'll show them.
I've started playing too. They hold these colorful keys in front of me and I follow them with my eyes. It's amazing they are so intrigued by me looking at something. Especially since I write a blog where I use the word 'intrigued'.
Well, I need to stop writing. Daddy is coming to take me on a drive and do some errands so Mommy can have some quiet time.

I really like to eat

Daddy came home a bit early tonight, around 5:30. So I decided not to sleep a wink for the next (going on) 6 hours. I have spent most of that time eating and making diapers for him to change. All the eating is making me grow really fast; when they weighed me earlier today, I was over 10 pounds.
At around 11:30 I finally got quiet and went to bed. Now to see how long that lasts.

I love to eat

Last night was my best sleeping yet; I only got up once between midnight and 6AM. Part of this was due to a special swaddle blanket (http://www.miracleblanket.com/viewpoint.htm) which makes me nice and snug.
However, I have made myself more difficult during the day to make sure Mommy and Daddy don't get off too easily. Lately I have been hungry all the time, eating constantly. This shows my heritage as my Daddy is a big eater (CHEAP PLUG - http://joelovestoeat.blogspot.com/).
Because of all this eating, I am needing to be changed constantly. My Daddy has become quite apt at this, even able to talk on the phone.
A couple days ago I went out with Mommy to her work. I met lots of people who all said I was cute; so far that is unanimous.
Well, time for me to eat again, maybe I will have another good night of sleep.

It was a dark and stormy night

It has been a few days since I have written, sorry but I have been very busy. Yesterday I cried for the first time, with real tears. Now I can get anything I want!
The last few nights have been very hard on my parents. For some reason they think when it's dark out, it's time to sleep. Silly people, that's when it's time to play. We've compromised; During the day I sleep in my bed, at night I will sleep if they hold me.
I'm starting to make more coordinated movements with my hands. One of these days I'll get my thumb into my mouth in under 10 tries.
Last night my Dad fed me for the first time. It was so much easier , apparently too easy; I finished the bottle in two minutes. It was very differnt having him feed me, but my Mommy is very excited about the prospect of not needing to feed me every time. I don't know why it's so hard for her to survive on one hour naps.

I'm this big (-------)

Today I went to the pediatrician and she told me how much I'm growning. I am now 8 pounds, and 13 ounces and 21 3/4 in, putting me in the 90th percentile for height. I also have gained 1/4", but I didn't notice. The doctor said I can now sleep up to 6 hours straight and my Mommy and Daddy shouldn't be worried, though I believe 'worried' would be about 50th on their list of things if I slept 6 hours (the first 49 being 'zzzzzzzzzzzzz'). The only bad part of the doctor, was they had to take some blood. But as it turns out, I have no tear ducts, so I can't even really cry until they do it again in a month.

Last night was my longest sleep yet, from midnight to 3:45AM. I dreamed about....well either pooping or eating, since I don't know much else. My parents were very proud that they only had to get up once between midnight and 6 AM. See, I'm so easy to care for.

The dog has shown me a little more attention lately. he now sniffs me when he comes by. And he's very careful not to bump into me or step near me when he walks around. I hear his tail is what I have to really be careful of in the future. He really likes that so many people are around the house.

I'm so glad it's Friday, I hope I get some visitors this weekend.

Who needs relativity

I've learned there is a new reason to cry. First there was hungry and dirty, then gassy and lonely. Now I have a new one....no reason at all. While it only was about 20 minutes, through the time warping effect of high pitched screams, it seemed like hours to Mommy and Daddy. They tried changing me, feeding me, burping me, but none of it helped.

I had a very quiet day today, but I did get to go out to dinner. I slept through a 'gourmet' dinning experience of semi fast-food burritos. I'm not sure why these people actually leave the house to eat, don't they have food they just can suck down anywhere?

Another day of firsts

Last night we all slept together in the living room. Apparently the house isn't big enough to escape my crying, so they don't try anymore. Mommy was very proud of me, I took a 3 hour nap in the middle of the night. Upon telling Daddy how good this was, he gave her a very tired glare.
I had so much fun today. I have this game with Daddy that no longer how long he holds a cloth in front of my penis to block me from peeing on him, the minute he moves it I get him. Today I introduced Mommy to this game; it was ever so much fun.

Because of this game, I had my first bath today (since being 30 minutes old). It's almost time for me to take a long nap.

I still don't know what 'day' means

I tricked my parents today. They thought I was starting to take my longer nap at night, but boy did I have a surprise for them. All night I wanted to eat and be held. They really need to learn to fall asleep quicker, because after last night, they look so tired.

Last night I also met another member of the household. This strange person who is covered in hair and walks on all fours; something I'm supposed to learn how to do soon. He licked me a few times and it was very wet. He doesn't wear a diaper, but they seem to pick up after he goes to the bathroom too. These are very strange people.

Grandma stayed with us another day helping take care of the house while Mommy and Daddy took care of me. In the afternoon Uncle Dan came over with Cousin Josh and Cousin Grace. My cousins are very nice to me, they like talking and playing with me. I hope I get to see them more and they will teach me all sorts of things.

I'm (hopefully) getting tired, so I should take a LONG nap,

Welcome to my life

Hello, my name is Samuel Joseph Drasin. I was born at 3:59 AM on May 26, 2007 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. I weighed 8lb 8oz and was 21.5" in length. My Mommy told me that I am the cutest baby in the world, and my Daddy has confirmed this.

Life is very different out here, it's so much more cold than before, and now I have to make noise to get fed. And I can't figure out why they keep having to change my clothes every couple hours, that never happened before.

Today was a big day, I went outside to see my doctor. She told me I am very healthy and am already gaining my weight back; rumor has it that I got my father's appetite. I am starting to follow objects and sounds. This silly man keeps putting his face in front of mine and moving it around while making noise.

I will post about my new adventures soon, and I promise to put some pictures of me up. I may not be able to talk or walk, but I know the importance of a digital camera, a USB connection, and DSL.
